How much does membership cost?
Membership starts at just £14.95 per month for £100 per week sickness benefit or £24.95 per month for £250 per week sickness benefit.
Our membership is designed to provide financial support if illness prevents you from working, while also helping with everyday health and household costs throughout the year.
You can choose between £100 or £250 weekly sickness benefit cover and switch between membership options if your circumstances change in the future.
Membership is available to anyone aged between 16 and 60 who is in work or looking for work.
Unlike many providers, we do not exclude pre-existing medical conditions, charge higher prices based on occupation or require medical screening.
Your membership fees increase gradually as you move into the next published age band. However, we guarantee you will never pay more than the published rates shown on this page.
Sickness benefit cover ends at age 70. After this members can continue Society membership to retain access to discretionary member benefits and death benefit support by paying £15 per month.
Members reaching 85 receive free lifetime Society membership.

Gravesham Friendly offers much more than just affordable sickness cover. Our plans are designed to pay out quickly when you can’t work and we’ve delivered on that promise, paying 100% of sickness benefit claims since 2022 and authorising 95% of all claims within 3 working days.

Sickness Plan
Our Sickness Plan is designed to provide financial support if illness or injury prevents you from working, helping reduce financial pressure at a difficult time.
Membership is open to anyone in work or looking for work between the ages of 16 and 60 and starts from just £14.95 per month.

Membership options are available for individuals, families, clubs, societies and group schemes.
What does Gravesham Friendly Sickness Benefit Plan offer you?

Financial support if you are unable to work. If illness prevents you from working for more than one week, your membership provides weekly financial support to help you financially while you recover.

Unlike most providers, we offer a lifetime guarantee fixed fee promise. This means you will never pay more than the published rates on the Join Now page. The premium you pay increases gradually as you get older and as you move into the age band, your premiums increase to the next level.

If you choose the £100 per week membership option, the weekly sickness benefit payments for the same illness are:
- £100 per week for the first year.
- £50 per week for the second year.
- £25 per week for years three, four and five.
If you choose the £250 per week membership option, the weekly sickness benefit payments for the same illness are:
- £250 per week for the first year.
- £125 per week for the second year.
- £63 per week for years three, four and five.
Long-term support
An individual sickness claim can continue for up to five years for the same illness or condition.
No payments are made after year five for the same ongoing condition.

We aim to provide simple and affordable sickness benefit cover without complicated exclusions or hidden terms.
Benefit payments are currently tax free and paid in addition to any statutory or employer sick pay you may receive.
What you need to do
To claim sickness benefit, members must:
- Complete the initial 13-week qualifying period
- Pay membership fees when due
- Complete a claim form and provide a doctor’s fit note
Please note that the first seven days of sickness are not covered by the plan.

- After 13 weeks of membership, you can begin claiming up to £150 in Discretionary benefits (pro rated)
- After 12 months of membership, this increases to up to £350 per year
£250 per week membership option
- After 13 weeks of membership, you can begin claiming up to £250 in Discretionary benefits (pro rated)
- After 12 months of membership, this increases to up to £500 per year
Eligible claims, after 13 weeks membership, include:
- Dental treatment and dentures
- Optical care including eye tests, glasses, prescription sunglasses and contact lenses
- Medical and therapy costs including physiotherapy, osteopathy, podiatry, reflexology and private consultations
- Hospital stays and maternity/paternity support

Eligible claims, after 12 months membership include:
- First-time home buyer support
- Home energy efficiency improvements including windows, heating, boilers and insulation
- Education and training support
The above grants are paid at a maximum of £200 per discretionary benefit

- Discretionary death benefit of £2,500 and £5,000 for accidental death.

We reimburse 75% of eligible costs, helping reduce the financial pressure of everyday health and household expenses.
Unlike many providers, there are no category restrictions, allowing you to use your allowance on the support most important to you.
